I am Lars Drössler

I organize this course. Originally, I am from Germany and was educated in forest science at the University of Göttingen. Since 2008, I live in Sweden and work with silviculture and alternatives to the prevailing clearfelling system.

Here, you find the face and name of the students and teachers associated with the course.

Our Team.

I am Lars Lundqvist

I wrote my PhD thesis on boreal single-tree selection stands 25 years ago. Since that, I do forest research in uneven-aged forests and teach forest management at the Forest faculty in Umeå.

I am Charlotta Erefur

I will take you on the excursion to the experimental forest in Vindeln where I work today. I want to show you the CCF and regeneration experiment that I established during my PhD studies five years ago.

I am Klara Joelsson

I’m currently a PhD student at department of fish, wildlife and environmental studies at SLU, Umeå. I´m working with biodiversity questions in managed forests and my main focus is beetle diversity in uneven aged managed forests.

I am Arnis Jurevics

Originally, I am from Latvia and have been studying in Sweden, Finland, Latvia and US. Now I am PhD student at SLU in Umeå. In my research project I am estimating effects of intensive forest harvest (stump and slash harvest). I am looking on the on the carbon and nitrogen in the soil and tree biomass. One paper will be about the effects of intensive harvest on forest regeneration. Natural regeneration is favored by stump harvest. It would be interesting to find out, if intensive harvest would be appropriate in continuous cover forestry system.

I am Patrick Opoku

I am PhD student at TU Dresden.  My PhD thesis is on cross sector policy planning and collaborative governance in forestry. Before the PhD, I worked as a Research Fellow at TU Dresden after receiving the Alexander von Humboldt fellowship award. In Sweden, I will be discussing CCF policies in Europe and the possibilities and limitations to apply CCF in Ghana. I am originally from Ghana and worked for the Dutch NGO Tropenbos International and A Rocha Ghana on several forestry projects.

Martin Ahlström

from Sweden

Research subject: Silculture

Martin Urbasek

I am a 2nd year PhD student from Mendel University in Brno, dept. of Forest Economy and Policy. My PhD topic is "comparison of the profitability of even-aged and close to nature forests".

Mostafa Farhadi

from Iran

Research subject: Forest seed production

Maryam Bakhshi

from Iran

Research subject: CCF

I am a PhD student at the Department of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology, SLU, Uppsala. One of my projects deals with how soil fungis are affected by CCF.

Erica Sterkenburg
Endijs Baders

from Latvia

Research subject: Natural regeneration
