Currently I work in the project “Uneven-aged forest management” and my research subject is “Wood properties of Norway spruce in uneven-aged stands”. Southern Finnish ERIKA-experiments have been used for this wood quality research. My future research plan is to study Scots pine wood quality in stands with a complex structure.
Kjersti Holt Hanssen
Norwegian Forest and Landscape Institute
I work with regeneration issues of different kinds; from planting on clear cuts to natural regeneration in uneven-aged forests. The CCF experiments I have been working with are located in South-East Norway.
Sauli Valkonen
Finnish Forest Research Institute
I’m pursuing several research ventures on various aspects of uneven-aged management from regeneration to policies. Until now, we have focused on spruce stands, but are increasingly interested in pine and mixed-species stands in response to calls from practice and research. Our experiments cover several types of uneven-aged treatments all over Finland.
